Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join YHA England and Wales as we are looking to recruit a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer.
As Senior IT infrastructure Engineer you’ll administer and maintain critical systems and infrastructure. You’ll support YHA’s IT Infrastructure and Data Centre design, development, and solutions implementation; and you’ll provide third line support for YHA’s IT Infrastructure and users.
This role requires flexibility to attend National Office in Matlock DE4 3YH, although we do offer this role as hybrid as attendance the number of times required in the office is not set.

Responsibilities
Working with the IT and Business Systems Team you will be:
- Supporting YHA’s IT Infrastructure and Data Centre Design, development, and solutions implementation
- Supporting YHA’s IT infrastructure and its users
- Helping keep YHA’s IT Infrastructure secure, maintained, and compliant, and aligned with formal frameworks.
- Working closely with stakeholders and colleagues, providing advice and delivering solutions to meet their needs.

Job Requirements
We value lived experience just as much as previous skills and knowledge. We offer a robust induction, ongoing training, and further development, however, some of our roles will have further skills requirements. For the role of Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer, we are looking for the following:
- Qualified to diploma level in an IT subject or 3 years’ experience working in a 3rd line role.
- Proven experience of VMware, able to deploy and provision Virtual servers, as well as day to day administration.
- Proven experience of implementing and supporting an RDS/VDI Environment.
- Excellent networking skills and experience of supporting LAN’s (VLANs, Routing, QoS) WAN’s (SDWAN, MPLS and IP Based routing) & VPN’s (IPSEC, AnyConnect, SSLVPN)
- Experience of user personalisation technologies, preferably Appsense
- Proven experience in Azure, Exchange Online, Windows Servers, DHCP, DNS, Active Directory Management, Group Policy management
- Be proficient in packaging applications for deployment using Microsoft SCCM / Intune technologies and utilising PowerShell scripts to automate system tasks.
- Experience of supporting cloud-based telephony platforms
- Experience of IT Security, vulnerability scanning, vulnerability management and patching practices. Experience with WAF’s such as Cloudflare and KEMP.
- Experience of working with compliance standards (GDPR & PCI DSS)
- Excellent communication skills, able to discuss complex technical matters, and to communicate with non-technical users. Ability to transfer knowledge by producing clear, concise end-user system documentation, and deliver sessions and on the job training, for both end users, and technical team members.
- Ability to work effectively and to prioritise own workload.
