Job Description
Paddle UK is the Governing Body for Paddlesports. We have had many advances in our sport and paddling now covers a wide range of interests and passions as a sport and a leisure activity for all. Responsibilities
The Head of Governance plays a critical role within Paddle UK, setting the strategic direction for our governance framework, developing effective governance structures, policies and procedures, ensuring best practice and full compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and internal policies.The successful applicant will ensure compliance with the UK Code for Sports Governance to ensure that best practice is adopted throughout the organisation and that policies in key areas are reviewed and updated accordingly.The role will also encompass all legal matters affecting the organisation, including contract management, compliance, disputes, disciplinary and liaison with external lawyers and providing guidance and leadership on key areas, such as, data protection, safeguarding and welfare.
Job Requirements
Set the strategic direction in the areas of safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing and governance across Paddle UK, ensuring that policies are developed and maintained in all these key areas.
● Lead on all legal matters affecting the organisation, including, contract negotiation and drafting, employment matters, commercial partnerships, leases and facility agreements,intellectual property and litigation to ensure legal matters are dealt with effectively.
● Liaise with external solicitors as required on all matters placed with the company solicitors to ensure legal matters are resolved efficiently and in a timely manner.
● Responsible for ensuring that Paddle UK remains compliant with the UK Code for SportsGovernance and that best practice is embedded throughout the organisation.
● Responsible for the management of all disputes, disciplinary and safeguarding cases, working closely with the case management group and disciplinary panels to ensure all action isappropriate and in accordance with best practice and the policies and procedures of PaddleUK.
● Lead the risk management process within the organisation to ensure that risks are identified, controlled and planned.
● Accountable for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check service to ensure the organisation safeguards all parties, in particular, vulnerable people and groups.
● Accountable for ensuring safeguarding is embedded throughout the organisation, ensuring training, support and advice is provided to staff, clubs, committees and volunteers.
