Cyclopark is Europe’s largest purpose built Cycling, Fitness and Wellbeing venue and a unique opportunity for an experienced leisure professional to be at the forefront of driving our and delivering our new four-year strategy.
Responsible for delivering the strategic plan, operational management and development of Cyclopark and reporting to the Trustees on developments, issues and ongoing matters on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
This includes policy and service development, financial management, business planning and staff performance management.
Maintaining an effective relationship with the Trustees, other stakeholders and third parties.
Responsibilities
Responsible for delivering the strategic plan, operational management and development of Cyclopark and reporting to the Trustees on developments, issues and ongoing matters on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
This includes policy and service development, financial management, business planning and staff performance management.
Maintaining an effective relationship with the Trustees, other stakeholders and third parties.
Main duties:
1. Strategy Development, Delivery and Evolution
- Define and evolve the charitable purpose, vision, mission and values of Cyclopark and agree this as necessary with the Board.
- Aligned to (i) define, agree and manage the long (3-5 year), medium (1-3 year) and short (next 12 months) priorities, goals, outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs) and both general and specific initiatives for Cyclopark based on an agreed Financial Projection and Resourcing plan [the Cyclopark Strategic Plan]
- (iii)Ensure (i) and (ii) are visible to all stakeholders and appropriately built into all Cyclopark marketing and communication content.
- (iv)Produce quarterly strategic performance reviews against the Cyclopark Strategic plan for discussion with the Board and other stakeholders as needed.
- Lead the delivery of deliverer of the Cyclopark Strategic Plan and ensure that any necessary forward planning is in place;
- (vi)Adopt an innovative approach to improving business performance and introduce initiatives to optimise business opportunities; and
(vi) Ensure the Board are appropriately informed and advised of policy and strategic issues, financial performance and service delivery issues, and ensure effective follow-up on the implementation of the Trustees’ decisions.
2. Staffing
(i) Lead, manage and develop the staff team at Cyclopark.
(ii) Promote and implement good management practices within the organisation; and
(iii) Provide adequate training, appraisal and development for all staff to enable them to perform their tasks efficiently and to encourage career and personal development.
3. Financial Management
(i) Manage, in conjunction with internal stakeholders and external advisors, the finances of Cyclopark efficiently and in accordance with best practice, to ensure the long-term viability of Cyclopark.
(ii) Develop, in conjunction with the Trustees, a long-term business strategy and financial plan;
(iii) Ensure and monitor that an efficient financial management system is in place to provide up to date and accurate information to the Trustees and external advisors:
(iv) Monitor financial performance and take appropriate action in the event of performance issues;
(v) Recommend to the Trustees initiatives to consolidate and expand Cyclopark and to exploit opportunities as these arise;
(vi) Achieve income as per agreed targets, and explore income generating opportunities that are compatible with the aims and objectives of Cyclopark; and
(vii) Seek and secure additional external funding for projects with the aim of securing Cyclopark’s future.
4. Service Delivery
(i) Responsible for the overall management of Cyclopark, to ensure that performance and quality assurance targets are met and service delivery is efficient, cost effective and to the highest standards;
(ii) Develop and continually review an activity programme that maximises the use of all facilities, and encourages participation from all sections of the community;
(iii) Ensure that contracts are entered into for the supply of goods, works and services which provide the best value for Cyclopark and seek appropriate advice where required;
(iv) Develop and implement inspection regimes to ensure the highest level of service provision is provided at all times,
(v) Develop efficient systems to monitor performance and customer feedback, to ensure that services are continuously improved and developed in accordance with the expectations of customers and the Trustees;
(vi) Regularly review the Marketing Plan to ensure Cyclopark’s products and programmes are effectively promoted and marketed to maximise participation and income;
(vii) Deliver an effective customer care system, and respond positively to customer feedback;
(viii) Develop and maintain effective working relationships with partner organisations to ensure the efficient delivery of services; and
(ixi) Liaise with KCC regarding all matters relating to the KCC retained assets, landlord’s expenditure and in relation to the annual revenue support grant.
5. Risk Management
(i) Maintain and update a register of all risks, ensure their effective management and mitigation and report to Trustees on a regular basis
(ii) Ensure health and safety is prioritised and that all responsibilities are fully implemented and regularly reviewed
(iii) Ensure Safeguarding is prioritised and that all responsibilities are fully implemented and regularly reviewed

6. Governance and Accountability to Trustees
(i) Implement the decisions of the Trustees appropriately and in a timely fashion;
(ii) Ensure appropriate books and records are maintained internally and as per legal and regulatory requirements (including Companies House, Charity Commission and HMRC);
(iii) Ensure compliance with all relevant legal obligations, regulations, policies, guidance and procedures;
(iv) Ensure that all activities of the business reflect Cyclopark’s Equal Opportunities Policy and that the programmes meet the diverse needs of the community;
(v) Ensure that all meetings involving Trustees are efficiently serviced and supported;
(vi) Represent Cyclopark at meetings with other organisations;
(vii) Provide cover for other staff at Cyclopark as and when required and ensure the security of the premises at all times; and
(viii) To undertake such other tasks as the Trustees may determine from time to time.
